  • No chafe damage as associated with tarps
  • Economical alternative to expensive and limited inside storage

  • Shrink Wrap Boat Storage!
This innovative, inexpensive and safe winter storage method for marine and small vehicles is now available here at Crown Pointe Marina! We've provided some information below. If you have any other questions, please feel free to give us a call.

    What is Shrink-wrap Storage?
Shrink-wrap Storage is the same method that many manufacturers use on their boats and other marine vehicles when transporting them from factory to the retailer or customer. In a nutshell: The boat/vehicle is covered in plastic (a frame is built inside the boat to lift the plastic away from interior spaces), the plastic is tied around the bottom of the boat, and then the entire thing is heated and shrunk to mold itself to the contours of the vessel, allowing for the best possible protection against wind and rain.

    Will moisture build up?
Vents are installed that enable air to flow through the interior without letting moisture in to keep the interior dry.

Will the plastic wrap scar or mar the finish of my boat?
No. This is the same technology many manufacturers use to protect the finish during transport. Because the heat shrink process creates such a tight fit, there is no movement of the shrink-wrap to cause abrasion when the boat is being moved.

    How much does it cost?
Shrink-wrap storage is priced by the linear foot (the length of your boat). The cost is $10 per linear foot for v-hull boats and $14 per linear foot for boats with t-tops, hard tops and fly bridges. If you have an outboard motor the shrink-wrap will also cover that. At $10 a linear foot, the cost to shrink-wrap a 20 foot v-hull boat would be $200.

What can't I just use a tarp or put it in my old barn, etc?
Tarps degrade and do not protect well against small windborne objects (i.e. twigs, dust, leaves). This is a nice heavy-gauge plastic that will aid significantly in protecting your vessel from the elements. Storing your boat in a clean, dry facility is always an option (although usually a more expensive one). If the facility where your boat is stored is not clean and dry you may find tough-to-remove mold and mildew on the interior surfaces when you get your boat out of storage in the spring. Some storage sheds are dry but not protected from dirt and dust. Having your boat properly shrink-wrapped will allow you to store it outside when dry indoor space is not available.

Fast & easy getting back on the water in the spring
Our goal in shrink-wrapping your boat for storage is to provide a dry, clean method of storage. We will be happy to clean the interior of your boat prior to shrink-wrapping. When you are ready to get back on the water, the only thing that we will have to do is remove the shrink-wrap, charge the battery, and wave as you head out into the bay.
